Julia A. Bird, 73, of Huntertown, died Sunday April 9, 2023 at home. Julia was born April 27, 1949 in Fort Wayne, the daughter of (the late) Floyd and Clara (Sordelet) Lash. She graduated from Central Catholic with the Class of ’68 and on July 6, 1968, Julia married Philip Bird, who survives after 54 years of marriage. She worked most of her career as a loan officer, associated over the years with Indiana Bank/Summit Bank, Home Loan, Midwest FCU and also Ruoff Mortgage. Julia was a member of Most Precious Blood Catholic Church; she enjoyed sewing, knitting & quilting, birdwatching, tending to her pond & gardening, and had an interest in genealogy. Julia cherished the time she spent with family & friends; she enjoyed travelling with her husband and loved attending her children’s games & events, no matter where they were located. In addition to Phil, Julia is also survived by their children, Tom (Dr. Christina Kephart) Bird of Fisherville KY, Tim Bird and Brian Bird, both of Huntertown; grandchildren, Patrick (Kristin) Bird of Detroit, Sophia (Ryan Murphy) Bird and Audrey Bird, both of Indianapolis, John Bird of Bloomington, Declan Bird and Cerys Bird, both of Fisherville KY, and brother, Richard (Bev) Lash of New Haven. Julia was preceded in death by her parents and also her sisters, Mary Jo Franke and Jean Miller. A Memorial Service to celebrate Julia’s life is scheduled for 11:00am Saturday May 20, 2023 at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave. with burial in Catholic Cemetery immediately following the service. Visitation is Saturday from 10:00-11:00am in the funeral home. The family’s preferred memorial is Stillwater Hospice, 5910 Homestead Rd, Ft Wayne IN 46814.
