Linda Joy Mattes
Obituary
Linda Joy Mattes, 79, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2023. A long-time resident of Fort Wayne and most recently a resident of Chicago, IL and Westfield, IN, she was born to George and Ellen Jaap. Linda was a 1962 graduate of Central Catholic High School.
Linda was an active member of the catholic church and parishioner at St. Charles Borromeo, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, and Old St. Mary’s (Chicago). Linda enjoyed art, antiques, gardening, reading, and traveling. She spent time volunteering at the Swinney Homestead Settlers and enjoyed being a docent for the Fort Wayne Museum of Art.
Linda’s greatest joy was her family, especially spending time with loving husband and doting on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Linda is survived by her devoted husband of 60 years, George Mattes; their three daughters, Jennifer (Steve) Ackerman, Tina (Gary) Lallo, and Angie (Eric) Rudin; grandchildren Chloe, Emily, Audrey, Nate, Pete and Izzy; great-grandchildren Ava, Henry and John Paul; and sister Judy (Jim) Hohenbrink.
Funeral services will be held at St. Charles Borromeo at 4916 Trier Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46815 on Friday, June 9 at 10:30am. Friends are welcome to visit from 9:30am until the time of service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Fort Wayne Museum of Art or Miss Virginia’s Mission House.
