Luanne Obergfell, 91, of Fort Wayne, passed to her heavenly home on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, surrounded by her family. Luanne was born in Pittsburgh, PA on July 24, 1932, the daughter of James and Marion Bardsley. She moved many times in her childhood due to her father’s work, eventually settling in Fort Wayne. She attended the University of California – Berkley, University of Wisconsin, Madison, and St. Francis in Fort Wayne. She was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority. She was a 59-year Parishioner of St. Jude Catholic Church Fort Wayne, was a member of the Rosary Society and founder of the Funeral Dinner Ministry. She volunteered for many years at St. Joseph Hospital and Bishop Dwenger High School with Saints Alive. She worked at Wolf and Dessauer in the bridal department before meeting and marrying David Obergfell who proceeded her in death after 63 years of marriage. She is survived by her children, James (Colleen), Ann Marie, Thomas (Rita), Michael (Mary) and Mary Katherine (Tony Jones), 16 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, her sister Marian Spencer, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was proceeded in death by her parents, her sister Dorothea Wyman, and great granddaughter Aurora Lebamoff. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30am Friday November 17, 2023, in St. Jude Catholic Church, 2155 Randallia Drive. Visitation in the church Friday from 9:30-10:30am. Visitation also on Thursday November 16, 2023, from 4-8pm at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave. preceded by the Rosary at 3:30pm. Interment in Catholic Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Masses at St. Jude Catholic Church or to the St Jude School – Education Fund.
