Marius “Kapi” Sagnon Passed away on April 9, 2021 surrounded by love, with peace and dignity. Preceded in death by Father Perthiou Sagnon and Mother Mariam Traoré. Survived by Fiancé Kate Bauman and countless family and friends. Marius was the middle child of 26 brothers and sisters. He was born in Burkina Faso, West Africa and later made Fort Wayne Indiana his home. He was a teacher who touched and impacted the lives of students on both continents. His infectious smile, unforgettable laugh and genuine kindness, compassion and love for all people are lessons he practiced and shared far beyond the walls of his classroom. Marius was the 2019 Southwest Allen County Teacher of the Year. He believed that teaching was a gift from God.
He was an uncle, “ton ton”, brother, cousin, best friend and beloved family member to everyone, a stranger to none. He lived his life believing in each and every person he knew. His “I believe in you” attitude gave countless people the encouragement to overcome whatever obstacle they encountered and achieve any goal envisioned.
Visitation will be held Sunday, April 25, 2021, 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne. Rosary will start at 3:30.
Funeral Mass will be 11:00 am, Monday, April 26, 2021 at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 10700 Aboite Center Road with calling one hour prior. The family requests you “let your joy rise to the surface” and wear your brightest outfits and his signature bowtie and celebrate in full color what was Marius’s extraordinary life.
Burial will be in Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne. In lieu of flowers a scholarship has been set up in his name. Donations can be sent to:

Marius “Kapi” Sagnon nous a quitté le 9 avril 2021, entouré d’amour, avec paix et dignité. Fils de Perthiou Sagnon et Mariam Traoré. Fiancé à Kate Bauman et ami de nombreuses personnes. Marius compte 26 frères et sœurs. Il est né au Burkina Faso, en Afrique de l’Ouest, et déménagea plus tard à Fort Wayne, dans l’Indiana. Il était un professeur qui toucha la vie de beaucoup de ses élèves sur les deux continents. Son sourire contagieux, rire inoubliable, et gentillesse authentique, compassion et amour pour tous étaient les leçons qu’il enseignait et partageait bien au-delà des murs de sa classe. Marius fut élu Professeur de l’année 2019 dans le comté du Sud-Ouest Allen. Il croyait formellement qu’enseigner était un cadeau de Dieu.
Il était oncle, tonton, frère, cousin, meilleur ami, et membre de la famille adoré de tous, étranger de personne. Il a vécu sa vie en croyant en chaque personne qui traversait son chemin. Son attitude « je crois en toi » a donné à bon nombre de personnes les encouragements nécessaires pour surmonter tous les obstacles, et réussir à atteindre les objectifs fixés.
La veillée funèbre se tiendra le dimanche 25 avril 2021 de 16h à 20h à Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne. Récitation du Rosaire commencera à 15h30.
La messe funéraire se tiendra à 11h le lundi 26 avril 2021 à Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 10700 Aboite Center Road, avec appel une heure avant. La famille demande que « votre joie se manifeste » et que vous mettiez vos habits les plus colorés et un nœud papillon, tellement représentatif de Marius. Célébrons de toutes les couleurs la belle vie que Marius a vécu.
L’enterrement se fera à Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne. A la place d’offrir des fleurs, une bourse a été créé en son nom. Les dons peuvent être envoyé à:
