Mark Paul Kennell, 65, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 31, 2022, at Dallas Lake in Wolcottville, Indiana. He also lived in Jekyll Island, Georgia. Born June 28, 1957, in Syracuse, New York. He attended Purdue University, majoring in business. He worked for SuperValu before opening his own grocery stores, Mark's City Markets in Fort Wayne and Elkhart. Mark was a kind person and a list-maker. He was an extraordinarily hard worker. He prided himself in maintaining two (spotless) properties. He spent his summers in Indiana and his winters in Jekyll Island. He was a renowned storyteller who regaled his nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and others with funny stories about happenings in his life. He was a hit at parties. Mark valued relationships with his family and his friends. A large part of his day was spent playing with his beloved pets. Mark was the primary caregiver of his parents prior to their deaths. He will be greatly missed by his siblings, Debbie Kennell-Gonzales (Lynn Gonzales), Sue (Tom) Zeisig, Mike (Cherie) Kennell, and Paul (Pam) Kennell. Also surviving are his nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Mark was a loving and dedicated pet parent to Arthur and Mr. Cat, Jr. He was preceded in death by his spouse, Jon Roy; parents, Sally and Phil Kennell; grandparents, Lawrence and Helen Paul, and Pete and Peg Kennell; and by his pets, Bud, Sandy, Katie, Gilda, Monty, Baxter, Piper and Mr. Cat #1. Visitation will be held Saturday, August 6, 2022, 11:00 am - 1:00 pm at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne. Graveside Service will follow at 1:00 pm in Catholic Cemetery.
