Mary C. Smith

Mary C. Smith, 90, of Fort Wayne, passed away Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at Saint Anne’s Home in Fort Wayne. She was born on February 28, 1933 in Wolf Lake to the late George and Ruby (Wolf) Strouse. On May 15, 1954 in Precious Blood Catholic Church in Fort Wayne she married Walter J. Smith, he preceded her in death in 2004. Mrs. Smith worked as a Bank Teller. Mary enjoyed playing bingo & cards, sewing and cooking. She is survived by her children, Debbie (Dan) Gibson, Patty (Mike) Uptgraft, Cathy (Tom) Steenport, Susan (Les) Hanford and Linda (Mitch) Shearer; eleven grandchildren; and twenty one great-grandchildren. Mary was also preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Buchan. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 1st, 2023 at 10 a.m. at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne. Calling will be Sunday, April 30, 2023 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the funeral home, and one hour before the service. Burial will follow at Catholic Cemetery.
