Mary Washington-Freeman Obituary

Mary Jean Washington-Freeman was born to the union of Johnny Washington, Sr.and Maryola Washington on June 11, 1962 in Chicago, Ill.  Mary found faith at an early age by her mother Pastor Maryola Washington who has preceded her in death along with her father Johnny Washington, Sr. and brother Johnny Washington, Jr.  

Mary graduated from Harlen High School in Chicago, Ill.  After her mothers home going, she started working after school at Marshal-Fields in downtown Chicago.  Later she joined her second mother, Ruth Hudley, who also preceded her in death, at Geno East Pizzeria.  Mary went on to work at Boys English Muffins, she also continued to work adopting Albert Washington and Brandon Washington which she raised to be men.

She went back to the work force at Pepsi Quaker Oak, in Bedford Park, Ill with her long time friend and sister-in-law Brenda Watkins.  In 2006 the Lord blessed Mary with her baby son Gregory William Freeman.  Later after birth Mary began to get sick.  She married Gregory Harold Freeman and continued to strive, owning her own restaurant and woman's shelter in Chicago with her sister LaVeda Hudley. Mary was also a bankrupt lawyer, until she moved to Bluffton, IN in July of 2016 where she continued to do foster care.  Mary had a golden heart.

Left to cherish her memory Mary leaves behind her husband, Gregory Harold Freeman; three sons, Albert Washington, Brandon Washington, and Gregory William Freeman; aunt Corine Jackson of Toledo, OH; brother, Carl Hudley of Chicago, Ill; six sisters, Vanilla (George), Hattie (Robert), Betty, LaVerne, twins, LaVeda and LaKita all of Chicago; four nieces, Cynthia Peterson of Chicago, Janee Watkins, Chelsa Freeman of Bluffton, IN and Tieisha Watkins; six nephews, Alphonso Washington, Jeremy Freeman, Timoty Washington, Reginald L.J. Freeman of Winona, MS, twins Marcus Washington and Marcel Washington; mother-in-law, Willie Belle Freeman of Winona, MS; brother-in-law, Reginald L. Freeman of Bluffton, IN; two sisters-in-law, Brenda Watkins and Helen L. Freeman of Chicago, Ill; five special great nieces Arianna, Charlotte, Ariel, Anyia and Aryssa all of Bluffton, IN and many extended cousins and other family and friends.
