Michael Burns, 78, passed away Friday, July 30, 2021. Born in London, England, Mike and his twin brother, Terry Burns, were the oldest sons of Mary and Charles Burns. Mike moved to the states in 1964 where he met his wife of 55 years, Marjorie (Schreiber) Burns. He joined the Navy in February of 1966 and served on the destroyer USS Corey during the Vietnam War. He was stationed in Norfolk, VA, and was honorably discharged in 1968. He was always extremely proud of his status as a Vietnam Vet. Michael worked for GTE, International Harvester, and Slater Steel. He was most recently employed by Parkview Hospital until his death. Michael’s greatest joy was his family. He was preceded in death by his son, Patrick, his parents and 3 siblings. Surviving is his wife, Marjorie, his eight children Dan (Amy) Burns; Pauline Workman; Mary (Bill) Harrison; Terry (Gwen) Burns; Shawn (Libby) Burns; Matthew (Megan) Burns all of Fort Wayne, IN; Michael (Teresa) Burns of Puyallup, WA; Tim (Jamie) Burns of Oakdale, CA; and 25 grandchildren. Funeral Mass will be 11:00 am, Monday, August 2, 2021 at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, 1515 Barthold with calling one hour prior. Burial will be in Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne. Memorials to the Wounded Warriors Project or Most Precious Blood School are preferred in lieu of flowers.
