Monna Lee Hill, 90, left her earthly life at Parkview Hospital Randallia on June 16, 2020 and began her journey to heaven to be welcomed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior. Born and raised in Fort Wayne, she attended St. Patrick's Grade School and graduated in 1948 from Central Catholic High School. Her primary mission in life was to serve the Lord, be a loving wife and mother, help others, live life to the fullest and enter the kingdom of heaven. as a loving wife, she was married to her late husband, Roger D Hill for 26 1/2 years until his untimely death in 1977. Her years as a young mother and homemaker were dedicated to providing a loving home and family for her husband and two children, Danny and Brian. Her devout and enduring Catholic Faith were among her most important gifts. Monna Lee was a member of St Charles Borromeo for over 60 years. She was known for her deep and abiding commitment to the Lord and the Catholic faith and she attended Mass daily for many years. She led a life using her God-given talents on many wide-ranging faith-based activities including teaching pre-school CCD, serving as Eucharistic Minister and being a very active member of the Legion of Mary. Monna Lee was a talented, passionate teacher who loved serving as a caring helper to others, especially children. In her early 30's she felt called to teach and attended St. Francis College, graduating with an early education degree in 1966. Mrs. Hill taught elementary school for 30 yrars in the Fort Wayne Community School at Hoagland, Fairfield and Haley Elementary School and according to her, she loved teaching every day. She retired in 1996. She was a lifelong learner and following retirement she increased her commitment of giving to those in need: Virginia's Mission House; The Lincoln Museum; Old Fort Wayne; Early Childhood Reading; Parkview Hospital; Disaster Relief Volunteer with the American Red Cross (Hurricane Katrina, Hurricane Sandy, etc.). Monna Lee had a uniquely positive, outgoing and energetic zest for living life to the fullest. Many wonderful memories flowed from the many memorable camping trips she and family shared and especially those Hill & Steger station-wagon trips with her family and her sister's family. After retiring she focused her time on her children and grandchildren, and in her 70"s she becan scuba diving; whitewater rafting; and repelling with the Indiana DNR program "Becoming an Outdoor Woman." Very dear to her heart were the travel adventures she embarked on with her sisters, Marita Ann Duke and Birginia Steger. These included travel to Europe, Hawaii, Niagara Falls and an Alaska cruise. Mona Lee was preceded in death by her parents, Edward C. Hilker, Sr. and Virginia Hilker; her husband of 26 years, Roger D. Hill; her brother Edward C Hilker, Jr. and her sister Marita Ann Duke. She is survived by her two son's Danny Hill and Brian Hill; three grandchildren, Anna Marie Hill (Cutler), Briana Lee Hill; Christian Daniel Hill; a great granddaughter, Amina Hill; and 17 nieces and nephews. . Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am, Friday, June 19, 2020 at Saint Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 4916 Trier Rd with calling one hour prior. Visitation will be held Thursday, June 18, 2020, 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm & 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne. Burial will be in Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne.
