Nancy Eifrid Obituary

Nancy Mae Eifrid, 84, of Fort Wayne passed away peacefully at her home on May 13, 2020. Nancy was the fifth of six brothers and sisters and was born August 12, 1935 in Fort Wayne to the late Don and Nondas Beck. She attended St. Patrick's grade school, followed by four years of high school at Central Catholic H.S.

Nancy was a remarkable woman who had to adapt to many roles in her life. The most important, however, was being a single mother. When she started working at Bowmar, the ages of her children were 5, 3, 2 and 1. She started as a clerk-typist in 1966 and worked her way up into a variety of different positions at Bowmar, until retiring 34 years later in 2000.

She worked hard to be a good mother to her children, sending them all to Catholic schools, taking them to various school activities over the years and doing everything else she could to give them a good upbringing.

As a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Nancy will be remembered as a hard-working, loving, faith-driven and kind woman. She found pleasure in simple things which brought her joy such as; pink and purple flowers, watching QVC, football and soaps on television, eating chocolate candy, drinking Coca-Cola, reading & especially Richard Paul Evans. She took great pride in her home where she lived for 56 years and the many members of her family that would visit and spend holidays with her.

Nancy is preceded in death by her sisters, Rita Ryan and Donna Todd; brothers, James Beck, Eugene Beck and Robert Beck. She is survived by her children, Edward E Eifrid, Angela S Eifrid, Jeannine M (Mark) Beck, Anthony S (Kim) Eifrid; 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a private service will be held to honor Nancy.
