Nicholas “Nick” Edwin Savieo, 35, died July 8, 2021 in Salyer California and leaves a huge void in the hearts of so many family members and friends who love him. Nick was born on January 5, 1986 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was always curious and energetic. As a boy, he excelled in school and graduated from Snider High School in 2004. After high school, Nick served 6 years in the U.S. Air Force, from 2004 until 2010. Nick enjoyed playing baseball and had a genuine appreciation for music. As an adult, he loved the challenge of chess and card playing. He enjoyed writing. It wasn’t unusual for him to send 20+ page letters to his family. Nick developed a fascination for African culture. After much research, he became very talented in building and playing African drums. He shared his passion by giving drum lessons to others. Nick’s other passion was for nature and the outdoors. He was an advocate for backpacking, camping, hiking and sleeping under the stars. He enjoyed spending time in various State and National Parks throughout the US with California being one of his favorites. Nick’s infectious smile and interest in others meant he easily made friends and never knew a stranger.
Nick is survived by his mother, Maryann Savieo; his son, Dean Edwin Savieo; his grandparents, William and Dorothy Nussa and Norma Savieo; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his father, Mark Savieo, and his grandfather, Jerry Savieo.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am, Monday, July 26, 2021 at Our Lady of Good Hope (7215 Saint Joe Rd | Fort Wayne). Visitation from 10:00am until 11:00am. Burial will be at Catholic Cemetery (3500 Lake Ave | Fort Wayne).
