Pat Whetstone Obituary

Patricia M. Whetstone, 79, of Columbia City, died Wednesday May 24, 2023, at Oak Pointe Assisted Living. Pat was born in LaPorte on March 16, 1944, the daughter of (the late) Adam and Doris (Hurley) Rowe. She married Larry Whetstone on November 23, 1971, and he preceded her in death on February 15, 2023 after 51 years of marriage. Pat attended Columbia City United Methodist Church and was the co-founder of their family business, Whetstone Electric, where she retired as the CFO. She was a member of the Columbia City Are Chamber of Commerce, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Better Business Bureau, Associated Builders and Contractors – Indiana Chapter, National Federation of Independent Business, National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO), and Women Impacting Public Policy (WIPP).  She was the recipient of a U.S. Patent for Custom-designed Decorative Garland from Indiana Businesswomen’s Association-New Business. She is survived by her children, Cheryl Whetstone of Columbia City, Tod (Jamie) Whetstone of Ocala FL, Kim Whetstone of New Haven CT and Chad (April) Whetstone of Columbia City; grandchildren, Scott (Mallory) Huntley, Angelia (Gene Tope) Huntley, Brant (Tonya) Huntley and Larry (Rachelle) Whetstone, all of Columbia City, Matt Whetstone of St. Louis MO, Nick Whetstone and Melissa Childers, both of Fort Wayne, Jon (Katie) White of Huntertown and 14 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are brothers, Richard Rowe of Waterloo, and Kevin (Sylvia) Rowe of Silver Point TN. In addition to her parents and husband Larry, Pat was also preceded in death by a sister, Vallaree Rowe. A Celebration of Pat’s Life will be scheduled for a later date.
