Patricia J. (Towns) Kocks, 98, of Fort Wayne, passed away peacefully on Thursday August 24, 2023 at home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Fort Wayne on September 22, 1924, the daughter of the late Joseph and Marie (Baals) Towns. She graduated from South Side High School in 1942 and married her high school sweetheart, James J. Kocks upon his return from WWII. She worked at Lincoln Life before starting her family of 5 children. After her children were raised, she enjoyed a long career with FWCS as a school secretary. Family was always the most important part of her life and she created many summers of generational memories at her lake cottage. She had a wonderful sense of humor and filled everyone around her with happiness and love. She was her happiest while doing and caring for others. Her passion was reading and also enjoyed volunteering at the Embassy Theater. She remained a devout Catholic throughout her lifetime. She is survived by her 4 children, Pamela M. Kocks, Lynne Kocks-Queoff, James P. (Debi) Kocks and Matthew (Tracy) Kocks, all of Ft. Wayne; 6 grandchildren, Brian (Jeri) Johnson, Keith Queoff, Sean (Michelle) Kocks, Natalie (Evan) Jenkins, Tom Kocks, and Nick Kocks; 7 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James J. Kocks; son, Michael J. Kocks; grandson, Eric Johnson; brother, Gene Towns, and her beloved dog, Bitzy. Her family sends a special thank you to Caitlyn, her loving and compassionate in-home hospice nurse. Visitation will be from 12:00-2:00pm Wednesday August 30, 2023, at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave. followed by Funeral Services at 2:00pm at the funeral home. Interment in Catholic Cemetery. The family’s preferred memorials are the Fort Wayne Rescue Mission or for Masses at St. Patrick Catholic Church.
