Philip J. Huizing

Philip J. Huizing, 94, of Fort Wayne passed away peacefully at home on May 17, 2023. Philip (Opa) was born May 17, 1929 in Hilversum, Netherlands and came to America in 1954. He was a chef at The Van Orman Hotel, Zoli's Restaurant and Ramada Inn, all in Fort Wayne.  He is survived by daughters, Jennifer (Kirk) Rice, Elissa (Anthony) Wittwer and Katrina (Jeff) Hays, sons, Philip (Jennifer) Huizing and John Huizing.  Philip has three surviving siblings Hans, Elle and Steven Huizing, grandchildren, Kristen Rice (Jeffery Beeks), Aaron Wittwer, Megan Wittwer, Ryan Huizing, Karlie Rice, LeAnna (Mimi) Hays and Nya Hays, and great grandchildren Evelyn and Oliver Beeks. Philip was preceded in death by his wife, Anne Huizing and two brothers, Joop and Felix Huizing.  Services will be 11:00 am, Friday, May 26, 2023 at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave. with visitation one hour prior. Burial will be in Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association or Stillwater Hospice.
