Philip (Bud) Louis Schnelker, 92, of Fort Wayne died May 9, 2022 in Fort Wayne, IN. Philip was born to the late Herman and Cecilia Schnelker on August 13, 1929 in New Haven Indiana. He was a member of St Jude Catholic Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Society of Professional Engineers, Knights of Columbus, Purdue University Presidents Council and the John Purdue Club. Philip served proudly in the United States Army, serving in Korea 1951-1952. Philip is survived by his wife of 65 years Mary Ann Schnelker; children Molly (Tim) Daugherty, Meg (Todd) Ames; Mike (Kim) Schnelker; 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Philip was preceded in death by his son Mathew Schnelker, Daughter in law Molly Schnelker, his parents Herman and Cecilia Schnelker, in laws Earl and Pauline Laughlin and his 9 brothers and sisters. Phil enjoyed gardening, golf, Purdue University athletics, walking, big band music and in later life found great joy in spending time on his front porch listening to music, enjoying a cold one and regaling visitors with his storytelling. On July 26,1992 on the Iyopawa Island Golf Course in the presence of Father Shanahan and his good friend Kenny he achieved the pinnacle of golfing success on dreaded hole number seven, a hole in one. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am, Saturday, May 14, 2022 at St Jude Catholic Church, 2130 Pemberton Dr. with calling one hour prior. Visitation will be held Friday, May 13, 2022, 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne. Burial will be in Catholic Cemetery.
