Raymond D. Keelan, 90, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Monday, May 29,2023. Ray was born in the New Jersey shore town of Union Beach on December 24, 1932, but he spent most of his life here, in his beloved Indiana. He was a U.S. Air Force Korean War Veteran, having served most of his four-year enlistment as an electronics instructor stationed at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, MS. Ray received his Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from Montana State University in 1961. Upon graduation, he worked several years for General Electric Co. in upstate New York. He and his family moved to Arizona in 1964 where he was employed by Motorola, Inc. Ray retired from Motorola in 1992, after almost 29 years of service in engineering and sales. He was a faithful member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in New Haven. Surviving are his loving wife, Betty Keelan, of Fort Wayne; daughters, Christine Sorg and Kym (Bill) Guevara, both of Fort Wayne; sons, Peter Keelan, of Fort Wayne, and Jeff (Susan) Myers, of Florida; 6 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and sister, Mildred Paulin. Ray was preceded in death by his first wife, Vera, and their daughter, Elizabeth; and brothers, John Keelan, of New Jersey and Fr. Damian Keelan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 2, 2023, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 943 Powers Street, New Haven, IN 46744 with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 1, 2023, at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne, IN 46805 with a rosary beginning at 4:30 p.m. Burial will be at Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne. Memorials can be made to St. John’s Church, New Haven in Ray’s name. Condolences can be left at www.divinemercyfuneralhome.org for the family.
