Richard Cline Solaro, went to see his Lord on Tuesday, December 14, 2021. A Fort Wayne native, he was a 1953 South Side High School graduate. He received B.S. degree in Business and Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from Indiana University. He served in the U. S. Army from 1957 - 1959, achieving the rank of 1st Lieutenant. He lived in Indianapolis from 1960 - 1985 where he was a vice-president in the trust banking areas of the major Indianapolis banks. He also practiced law from 1980 - 1983 and was elected to the Carmel, IN City Council in 1983 where he served until 1985. He returned to Fort Wayne in 1985 where he became manager of the Summit Bank Trust and Investment Department until 1997. He served as a director of the Embassy Foundation and Fort Wayne Parks Department. He was executive director of the Fort Wayne Boys and Girls Club from 2000 - 2002. He served as a board member and president of the Mental Health Association of America in Allen County, IN. He was a 33rd degree Mason and Mizpah Shrine member. He was Commander-in-Chief of the Scottish Rite from 1998 - 2000 in Fort Wayne and member of various Mizpah Shrine units. During his working and later adult life, he believed in retuning his talents and support to various religious and charitable organizations in the communities who supported him and his family. This effort was continued until his death. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, Josetta (Sanford) Solaro; daughter, Jeanine (Michael) Smith; daughter-in-law, Amy Solaro; stepsons, Christopher (Angie) Sanford and Craig (Charlynne) Sanford; stepdaughters, Karen (Russell) Dobbins, and Twyla Berrigan. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hilda (Cline) and Americo "Rick" Solaro; his first wife, Carolyn (Koehlinger) Solaro; son, David; and sister, Barbara. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 am, Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 1502 E. Wallen Road with calling one hour prior. Visitation also Monday, December 20, 2021, 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm & 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne. Entombment will be in Lindenwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Mizpah Shrine Transportation Fund or the Mental Health Association of America, Allen County, IN.
