Robert "Bob" Neher Sr., passed away peacefully on August 29, 2023, at the age of 79. He was born on February 27, 1944, in Fort Wayne, IN, to his late parents Clem Jr and Jean Neher. Bob was a loving husband to his wife of 58 years, Janice (Daugherty) Neher, and a devoted father to his children, Rob (Deborah), Mike (Amy), Maryann (Todd) Hyder, Brian (Lynette), and Kevin (Sara).
He was proud of his cherished grandchildren, Greg (Amy), Travis (Emily), Tim, Cayley (Eric), Rachel (Brendan), Julia, Alex (Hannah), Jenna, Olivia, Elise, AnnMarie, and Lucas, and four great-grandchildren. He also had a close bond with his siblings, Ann Faylor, Jim (Judy), Martha (Dave), Steve, MaryBeth (Gary) Christen, Rita Hecht, and David.
After graduating from Central Catholic in 1962, Bob proudly served his country in the U.S. Army for two years in the 7th Cavalry. After the Army, he worked at Joslyn and Slater Steel for 39 years.
He was an active parishioner at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Roanoke, Indiana, serving as an usher and participated in the men’s club.
He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed competitive muzzleloader shooting, hunting, fishing and camping, including being a member of the Kekionga Longrifles Association serving as President and Vice-President.
Bob was preceded in death by his siblings Phyllis and Andrew, grandson Mitchell, brother-in-law Tim Faylor, sister-in-law Debbie Neher and godson Andy Neher.
A visitation will be held at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne, on September 7th from 4:00pm - 8:00pm. A funeral Mass will take place on September 8th at 10:00am at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Roanoke, Indiana with visitation one hour prior.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Covenant House in New York and Honor Flight Northeast Indiana.
