Signa Lee (Hurlburt) Askins

Signa Lee Askins, 74, passed away Wednesday, January 20, 2021, surrounded by her loving family.  Born on May 28, 1946 in South Haven, MI, she was a daughter of the late Keith and Thelma (Chaddock) Hurlburt.  Signa married the love of her life Michael Askins, Sr. on September 25, 1965.  They had 54 years of marriage before he passed away February 7, 2020.  She graduated from Cocoa High School in Rockledge, FL, Class of 1964.  Signa worked at Snider High School for 32 years.  She is survived by her five children, Kassandra (David) Potts of Albion, Michael (Cathy) Askins Jr. of Abilene, TX, Christopher (Jody) Askins of Fort Wayne, Kirsten (Kevin) Crowl of Fort Wayne, and James Askins of Kendallville; sister, Kelly Elliott; brothers, Keith (Suzanne) Hurlburt, and Kenneth (Rosanna) Hurlburt; brother-in-law, Robert (Barb) Askins; sisters-in-law, Shelia Schussler, and Mary (Larry) Shepherd; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and a plethora of nieces and nephews.  Memorial and burial service will be held at a later date.  Visitation will be Monday, January 25, 2021 from 5-8 pm at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave., Ft. Wayne.  Face covering required.  Memorials may be made to Riley’s Hospital for Children.
