Vaughn Crabtree

Vaughn Franklin Crabtree, age 74, passed away peacefully on Friday April 28, 2023, surrounded by family. He was born on October 8, 1948 in Van Wert County, Ohio, and was the youngest son of the late Ward (“Cal”) and Lela (Fensler) Crabtree. Vaughn grew up in Convoy, Ohio, and graduated from Crestview High School in 1967. He served in Vietnam in the “BIg RED 1” U.S. Army 1st Division Infantry. Vaughn retired from Parkview Hospital in 2021, having previously worked at the International Harvester Plant and Sam’s Club. Vaughn is survived by his wife of 51 years, Nicole (“Nicolasa Yolanda” Cancino); brother Don (“Donnie”) Crabtree; daughters Jill Schuckel, Tara Nehls, and Lela Crabtree-Guin; nine grandchildren and one granddaughter-in-law; and two great-granddaughters. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Saint Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 4910 Trier Road, Fort Wayne with calling one hour before the service. Calling will also be Tuesday, May 2, 2023 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a rosary at 2:30 p.m. at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave, Fort Wayne.
