Dr. Barry J. Close, O.D.

Barry Joseph Close, OD. 67 of Fort Wayne , unexpectedly passed away Tuesday, May 25 at home surrounded by his family. He was a husband, loving father and a truly exceptional Papa. He graduated from Indiana University School of Optometry, where he continued on to be a noted Optometrist for 40 years within the community. He was the original President of Mustard Seed Furniture Bank of Fort Wayne, Former member of Indiana Optometric Association and was very well known for his charitable contributions within the community. He was an avid golfer, basketball player and traveler.

Barry is survived by his wife Donna, three daughters Desiree, Marie (Nathanial), and Michelle (Frederic). Five grandchildren Neveah, Alice, Joey, Catie and Ava. He also is survived by sisters Caryn, Janet, Jackie and brother Hugh.  Barry was preceded in death by his Father Joseph B. Close and Mother Audrey M. Close.

Services will be 1130am Saturday May 29, 2021 at Divine Mercy Funeral Home 3500 Lake Avenue with calling one hour prior. Visitation will also be held 1pm-3pm and 6pm-8pm Friday May 28. Burial will be in The Catholic Cemetery.  Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers can be made to Indiana Donor Network or Leukemia and Lymphoma Society
